Payment: Registration fee
The $25.00 registration fee supports a scholarship program for our amazing tutors and is only paid once per school year per whole family (covering September 1 - August 31). New to our program, families are only contacted to pay this fee if a tutor match has been confirmed for their student(s). Once confirmation of payment has been received, a family will be connected with their tutor. This payment must be made online.
Payment: rates & schedules
Aside from the yearly registration fee (see above), tutoring is a set hourly rate depending on grade level. The EUS requires parents to pay tutors a minimum of $20.00 per hour for students in Grades 1 through 8 and a minimum of $25.00 per hour for students in Grades 9 through 12. The EUS does not handle session payments. Payments are to be arranged with and made directly to the EUS tutor. The EUS recommends that all payments are made by e-transfer immediately after each session; this way, should you or the tutor have to miss a session, all payments are up to date.
Sessions: Location & Absences
All tutoring sessions will be held at a location agreed upon by the tutor and the parents. We recommend a public area such at the library, or the university. Should you be unable to attend a scheduled tutoring session it is your responsibility to contact the student/tutor immediately, prior to the session. If you are unable to locate the contact information for your student/tutor, please email [email protected] and the Director of Tutoring Services will contact them for you. In the event of 3 total or 2 consecutive missed sessions, a new student/tutor will be assigned.
Tutors: membership requirements
New to our program this year, tutors do not have to be current members of the Faculty of Education; the EUS Tutoring program is now extended to out of faculty tutors. However, to be protected under the EUS Tutoring Bylaw, all tutors must be active EUS members regardless of faculty. Memberships can be purchased online (see Membership: Registration).
tutors: time commitment
Through EUS Tutoring Services, you can work as much or as little as you like. When you receive a "Tutor Request", it will contain the number of sessions and the number of hours per week required. Should you choose to accept the position, all arrangements are made directly between the tutor and parent to ensure that both parties have a workable schedule. The EUS supports as many of our tutors as possible, so initially tutors are matched with a single student. However, if unmatched tutors unavailable, tutors are permitted to accept additional students as availability allows. Should this occur, the EUS will contact you to determine availability prior to matching an additional student.
